Work

I absolutely LOVE where I work.  The days are long, chaotic, and stressful, but oh so much fun!  The people I work with are kind and helpful, and the kids are just awesome.  It’s amazing how good little kids can make you feel!  I have 3 or 4 little ones in particular that just make my day, every day!  They run to give me hugs when they see me and they always want to sit by me.  I love it. :)  I work from 8:30-2:30 every day with about 25 kids ages 3-5. Work includes: playing, preparing snacks, eating snack with the kids, teaching a small group lesson (about 6 kids), taking a small group to lunch, playing outside for 45 minutes (that’s fun when it’s 20 degrees and windy…luckily we can’t go outside if it’s any colder than that!), and playing some more.  The kids all know the routine well and it’s just fun to see them learn and experience new things.  They say the greatest things and I will have some fun stories by the end of the semester.  Most of them struggle with my name so it comes out “Ms. A-yuck-us” and it makes me smile every time. :) I am grateful for this internship, and the fact that it will turn into a paid job come March. I am grateful for little innocent preschool children who bring sunshine into my life every day. :)

Gratitude

Today was a hard day, being alone with no one to talk to.  I started to get negative about being here in Logan and I really wanted to go home. So I made a list of what I am grateful for here in Utah. I'm sure the list will grow, but it definitely helped me tonight to see the small blessings in my life right now.

Things to be grateful for in the next 4 months living in Logan
My own room/bathroom
Storage space
A window that I can see the sunset from
Cell phone
Old friends who call/make an effort to see me
A welcoming and friendly RS president
The Gospel
Scriptures
The temple
My car
The steps going up Old Main that I climb every day—that way I don’t have to find a gym!
Kind people at work
Kids at work
Snack time at work with the kids
Vents in my room so I can hear what is going on downstairs
A fan to block out the noise that comes through the vent at night…
A lock on my door
Soft blankets
Gossners Cheese Factory (fantastic Root Beer Milk!)
Aggie Ice Cream
Knowing it's just a 2 1/2 hour drive home if needed.
